⁸ He got up, and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled for forty days and forty nights to the mountain of God, Horeb. ⁹ He entered a cave and spent the night there. The word of the Lord said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” ¹⁰ He answered, “I have been zealous for the Lord, the God of hosts, for the Israelites have forsaken your covenant and torn down your altars and killed your prophets by the sword. I am the only survivor, and they are seeking to take my life away.”
